Artist Bio – Pamela Marquis

Pamela Marquis is a self-taught visual artist from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, now living and working in Metairie. Deeply influenced by the rich culture and natural beauty of South Louisiana, her work reflects the region’s spirit—infused with the rhythm of New Orleans, the vibrancy of local wildlife, music, food, and community.

Pamela’s creative journey began with painting Mardi Gras floats in New Orleans, where she developed a bold, expressive style characterized by vivid color, dynamic texture, and a confident approach to large-scale work. This early experience continues to shape her artistic voice, bringing energy and authenticity to every piece.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, Pamela turned to local art markets and festivals, forging closer connections with the community and expanding her body of work. Over the years, her portfolio has grown to include abstracts, festivals, wildlife, musicians, expressive landscapes and waterscapes, fine art photography, and custom pet portraits.

Pamela opened her own gallery, the Pamela Marquis Studio, in the heart of the French Quarter—offering her work exclusively through the space. While the gallery later relocated due to the pandemic, she continues to welcome visitors by appointment at her studio in Metairie.

Today, Pamela creates from her home studio, continually exploring new mediums and techniques. Whether through bold abstract paintings, soulful portraits, or atmospheric photographs, her work celebrates the color, character, and resilience of South Louisiana life, offering viewers a heartfelt invitation into her world of storytelling and creativity.
